HELL COLLECTING Along the two coastal sides in the estuary and the bay of Bourgneuf, everyone can be satisfied. North, it’s the land of mussels, oysters and clams but also shrimps or « boucot » that are collected with a net. From the headland of Saint Gildas, at low tide on the visible rocks one can find winkles, limpets but also prawns or even shellfish, velvet swimming crabs, hermit crabs and spider crabs.

ANGLING The headland of Saint Gildas is a famous spot for sea bass anglers going in for surf-casting. But from the pier of the port one can also fish bass, eel or even smelt and garfish.

BY BOAT The port of the headland of Saint Gildas is an ideal starting point for sea fishing lovers. There are many possibilities. Offshore, on wrecks or bases, it is the kingdom of congers and grey or pink breams. Near the coast, you can troll some bars or mackerels or even do a bit of « margatte » fishing (cuttlefish) with a jig. Matter of period and taste ! It is worth noting that the boat club has offered to hire a small motor boat by the day to learn the basics since summer 2006.

Walks and rides

By foot You can enjoy recreation walk or sporting hike whatever the age. In Préfailles, the ocean and fresh air deepen the pleasure. Enthusiasts have many possibilities.

By bike Except the coastal path, bicycle lovers have a secured track, open to everyone. The departmental route « Vélocéan » can satisfy their thirst for quiet space. It allows a peaceful ride according the rate of each one, from the coast line of Loire-Atlantique, from Guérande up north to Bourgneuf-en-Retz down south.

By hybrid bike on the wild coast During summer 2006 a new circuit specially designed for hybrid bikes has opened. Located in the middle of a nature protected area, the path, a 8 km- long loop , is open to everyone. It allows to discover the three small valleys of Port-aux-Goths, Pasquin and Choiseau in an environment without building and with an interesting fauna and flora.

The starting points are located in Port-aux-Goths, at the junction of the cycling route « Vélocéan », but also in the car parks of the wild coast located in La Palette and Ker Bidet.

In kayak or in schooner The boat club of the headland of Saint-Gildas offers boat rides for everyone ‘s desire and need. Just above the water, level with the rocks and seaweeds, the sea kayak is ideal to meet sea life. The club hires kayaks for every level, offers initiation rides or practice ones alone or with a group.

Each one can board in the two schooners of the club for a sea ride, most of the time to the island of Pilier or the estuary of the Loire. 9 m long, each schooner can ship out with 11 people plus the skipper. They for all ages from 5 for rides by the hour, by half-day or by the day, on demand. The safety equipment is supplied.
